WISCON™ is a Windows® based software package that enables the user to easily perform horizontal and vertical transformations between several map projections, datums, units, and file formats.
The power of WISCON is that the user can select any combination of the supported coordinate systems and options to convert coordinate data files. The graphical interface is quite simple to use and is designed to foster a zero to short learning curve. All selections (input and output coordinate system, projection, datum, and units of measure) for converting a single point or a coordinate file are conveniently located in pull-down list boxes on the main dialog. However, please note that WISCON will restrict access to selections based on which coordinate system or projection is chosen. For example, if a user selects the Wisconsin County Coordinate System (WCCS), WISCON will automatically select the WI HPGN (Wisconsin High Precision Geodetic Network) as the horizontal datum. The rules embedded in WISCON are designed to reduce the ambiguity surrounding coordinate conversions, i.e., selecting the proper datum for a particular projection.
